Getting Started

The UBC Survey Tool is a survey-building application that allows instructors to easily create surveys for distribution or have students do the same—all while complying with BC privacy laws. The new tool is provided by Qualtrics and allows for analytics and reporting as well as the sharing and distribution of surveys to collaborate on with groups of faculty or staff. The tool includes over 100 question types to choose from as well as advanced branching and customization capabilities.

Instructors and students can log in to ubc.qualtrics.com with their CWL to start making surveys. All survey data is hosted locally on Canadian servers, complying with FIPPA regulations.

Detailed documentation is available at UBC IT's survey tool information page for planning and setup. Help materials on IT's site also include Qualtrics training webinars.

You may also want to view the self help documentation on the Qualtrics website or check out Qualtrics's support center.

NOTE: If you use the UBC Survey Tool, your name will be available to other users of the tool. This feature is important to facilitate collaboration.
Before accessing the UBC Survey Tool for the first time, it is important for you to read the Terms of Use.
